Visa for Bhutan

All visitors require a visa before travelling to Bhutan (except those from India, Bangladesh and the Maldives, for whom the relevant processes and fees are outlined separately below).

As part of the visa application process, you will be required to pay the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of US$100 per day (per adult; $50 for children between the age of 6-12 years ).  Exemption for child of 5 years and below ( SDF is not required)

A non-refundable, one-off visa application fee of US$40 is also payable.

Yes, every traveler visiting Bhutan requires a Visa prior to their arrival regardless of your nationality except for Indians and Bangladesh citizens.

No, you cannot go to Bhutan without a visa.

Nationals of India are eligible for Entry Permit at the port of entry.

Nationals of Bangladesh and the Maldives are eligible for visa on arrival.

Nationals of Thailand and Switzerland holding Diplomatic/Official passports are eligible for visa on arrival.

Foreigners issued with a valid SAARC Visa Exemption Sticker do not require  prior visa/entry permit clearance.

All other foreign nationals must obtain an e-visa prior to their entry into Bhutan.

Admission into the country will be determined by Immigration Officers at the port of entry.

Bhutan will officially open for international tourist from September 23rd 2022. 

No, visa is not required to visit Bhutan but they are required to carry any of the 2 valid travel documents. (1. Valid passport having validity of minimum 6 months and 2. Voter ID Card, issued by Election commission of India)

OCI Cards are not valid documents to travel Bhutan as Indian nationals.

The visa fee is USD $40 per person and it is not refundable.
